Features Of Komelon 7125 MagGrip Pro
This tape measure is packed with many outstanding features that make it a useful purchase. Here’s what I like most about it.
Design
The Komelon MagGrip Pro Tape Measure has good ergonomics, if not the best. The design of the item is such that it fits well in hand. And the non-slip grip is very comfortable.
I have used other tape measures that were not as comfortable as this one. And I can say with certainty that after using this Komelon tape measure for a while, your hand will not feel fatigued.
And yeah, sometimes it is hard to get a good grip on the tape. Also, the belt is also on the stiffer side. But, overall, I am very happy with the way it feels in hand.
The only gripe I have is that it can be a bit hard to lock the tape with one hand. You need two hands to do it.
Blade
Extend the blade to its full length, and you’ll find that it has a nice, solid feel to it.
The blade is made of nylon-coated steel, so it’s built to last. And the markings on both sides of the blade are easy to read.
I’ve used other tape measures where the markings were hard to see, but that’s not an issue with the Komelon MagGrip Pro.
I’ve used this tape measure on a variety of surfaces, and it’s held up well. The only downside is that the blade standout is only seven feet.
Hook Design
The hook design on the MagGrip Pro is one of the many things that I specifically love about this tape measure.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve had issues with other tape measures where the hooks would either slip off the surface or not grip it at all.
But that isn’t an issue with the MagGrip Pro. The hooks are made of a strong magnet, so they grip the surface well and stay put.
And the hook is also double-sided so that it can be used on both standard and builder’s levels. The design of the hooks is one of the reasons I chose this tape measure over others.
Blade Marking
I want my tools to be as user-friendly as possible, and the Komelon MagGrip Pro definitely fits that bill. Everything about this tape measure is designed with the customer in mind, from the hook design to the blade markings.
The blade is marked with a scale on both sides (standard SAE measurements) so that you can make accurate measurements. And the magnetic end hook is also marked so you can make accurate internal and external measurements.
The blade markings are pretty solid, so they’re easy to see and won’t rub off over time. I’ve found the Komelon MagGrip Pro to be accurate, and I’ve never had any issues with the blade markings.
Blade Durability
Many of us are hardcore woodworkers, and we often use tape measures for a lot more than just measuring lumber. We use them to check the depth of dadoes and rabbets, set up joinery, and do a variety of other tasks.
We need a tape measure that can stand up to a lot of abuse, and the Komelon MagGrip Pro can definitely do that. The blade is made of stainless steel, so it’s pretty tough.
Plus, the nylon coating on the blade makes it resistant to abrasion and corrosion. The blade is also double-sided so that you can use it on both right- and left-handed saws.
And if you need to measure something that’s longer than the blade, you can use the blade lock to extend the blade.
Blade Retraction
The Komelon MagGrip Pro has a very fast blade retraction speed. I’ve used other tape measures where the blade takes forever to retract, but that’s not an issue with the MagGrip Pro.
The blade retracts quickly and smoothly, so you can get on with your work. Plus, the blade lock is there, so you can keep the blade extended for as long as you need.
Sliding Lock
This is the only thing I wish was different about the MagGrip Pro. The sliding lock is a bit hard to operate with one hand.
I often find myself having to use two hands to lock and unlock the blade. But other than that, I’m very happy with this tape measure.
You can slide the lock to lock the blade in place when you need to, and it will stay firmly in place until you unlock it.
The lock is also resistant to accidental release, so you don’t have to worry about the blade slipping out and injuring yourself.
I seriously wish that the company could make the sliding lock more accessible for one-handed operation. But other than that one issue, I’m very happy with the MagGrip Pro. It’s a great tape measure for both professionals and hobbyists alike.
Accuracy
This blade is entirely accurate when compared with other products like it. There have been no issues with it being off, even by a little bit.
This is an important aspect for many people, as no one wants to have to redo a whole project because the measurements were off by even a tiny amount.
Still, I will always suggest you “measure twice, cut once” (our golden mantra). Even the most accurate tape measures can have user error. If you follow that rule, you’ll be fine – no matter what tape measure you use.
Value For Money
The MagGrip Pro is remarkable for its value tape measure. At about under $20, it’s hard to find a better tape measure for the price. It provides accurate result and it has a lot of features that you’d expect from a more expensive tape measure.
Of course, if the slide lock was easier to operate, it would be perfect. But even without that, it’s still a great tape measure and an excellent value for the money.
But overall, the Komelon MagGrip Pro is an excellent tape measure for the price. It’s rugged, accurate, and easy to use, and it will make measuring much more accessible.
